Little Big Chair

While I think there are probably many, many people who enjoy disproportionately large or small things, I would venture to say that I am slightly more enamored with oddly-sized things than most.

I remember when I was a kid, my cousin had a knickknack shelf largely made up of miniature things. The one that really sticks out in my mind is a miniature croquet set, complete with mini-mallets and everything. I love teacup pigs and giant great danes. I grew up visiting Paul Bunyan the over-sized lumberjack and Babe the Blue Ox, his overgrown companion, every summer (with my sister and a fist pump, too!). And my heart skips a beat when I see things like handmade miniature foods.

So needless to say, when my eyes fell upon this giant chair and its normal-sized counterpart on a recent trip to my hometown, I needed to stop and take photos.
I've always thought I would enjoy a road trip where the only planned stops are at bizarre tourist traps like this, this, or this (and although I'd much rather see the real Stonehenge, I find this one and this one absolutely hilarious). Maybe someday.

I wonder if they actually followed through on painting it pink...

  1. Is this in Michigan?! There is one very similar here that I saw in the "Weird Michigan" book and have been meaning to go hunt it down! I love quirky things like this. :)

  2. It's actually in Colorado, near my hometown. Quirky, funky, and just plain weird... Those things are the best!

You'll have to post about the chair in Michigan if you ever find it and visit!
